This was written “stream of consciousness style” in five minutes, on my bed. My online timer applauded when five minutes was up and I wrote for about thirty seconds more, just enough to complete the thought. There is power in writing only for five minutes at a time, tiny slices in one’s day. Try it with me. I’ve even made that easy via the #5for5braindump challenge. What am I looking forward to?
Last night I exchanged quite a few text messages with my friend, Kimberly. Toward the end I said. “Why don’t we plan to get together next week. That way we’ll both have something to look forward to…”
It’s a popular life coaching question I asked - - “What are you looking forward to right now?”
It is a question that invites us to take action, to look not only on the distant horizon, but on each day as we flip the calendar page so that when the new year comes, we don’t look and say “What the hell happened?”
Right now I am looking forward to the first day of school, for Samuel, who is so excited to start his sophomore year he can barely contain himself.
I’m looking forward to thrifting with Emma.
I’m looking forward to taking my car in to get fixed – from whatever made it stop working right when I drove to Los Angeles to pick up Julia.
I’m looking forward to the two Periscope trains I’m participating in this morning. I’m looking forward to Wednesday’s Bonus Day #5fort5BrainDump. I’m looking forward to announcing my upcoming programs because I know lives will be changed and in so doing, the world will also change for the better.
I’m looking forward to December, when I know I’ll see Katherine again.
I’m looking forward to finishing the decoration of my bedroom – to make it a functional haven for rest and yes, for creativity. I love this cocoon I’m putting together and even while unfinished, I love the process AND I can’t wait for the outcome. It will be so helpful to have books on the shelves instead of in stacks on all my table tops!
I am looking forward to writing again, and laughing right now at the sound of applause saying “Your five minutes is up, love. Time to end this particular flow of words.”
What are you looking forward to right now?
