Sometimes my art journal speaks to me differently.
This morning, in candlelight, as I settle into writing practice the a-ha floats toward me with a curling index finger, come hither, come close it says.
See me, see this, work with me this painful life theme. Morph me from abstract concept and instead construct narratives that make it come alive so that it may do its work rather than stay perpetually looping – a mumbling, barely heart cassette tape from a terrorist whose voice and language is only translated as “scary” and “haunting” without being understood.
Come close, art whispers. Create again and again.
And now, begin again. Again, begin.

There is still time to join Art Every Day Month. There is a daily link-up, a facebook group, a flickr group, and people also post images to Instagram. The founder, Leah Piken Kolidas is a gem. I keep thinking she will eventually stop hosting, but so far we've been blessed by her gentle and patient leadership. She is a remarkable artist herself and creates right alongside us.
