The day isn’t complete unless I cry with happiness.
Well, actually many days are completed without such a thing, but days are better when I cry with joy.
Today it happened in an unlikely scenario: I was creating a Periscope broadcast about Literary Travel. Colleen asked for a writing prompt, so not to disappoint – I finished a story I was telling about Concord, Massachusetts and then launched into a writing prompt.
I was really smart, I thought, and added one of my taglines. I was holding a candle, again, a part of my improv writing prompt, and two of the viewers affirmed me. I said, “The world is waiting for your words” and in response, Stacy said, “You are awesome.” And Amanda Robbins said, “The world needs your message”.
I wasn’t expecting to be affirmed. I wasn’t asking to be affirmed. The affirmations arose when I responded to a request and flowed into the moment.
I started using Periscope earlier this month. I was afraid to start it, I didn’t know how – didn’t know why – but when I was invited into the challenge #SeptemberScopers, I leaped on board. I sometimes feel like I haven’t participated enough, but I am thrilled we have another chance to join these women (and so can you!) in #OctoberScopers.
Every day we have prompts to use in our Periscope broadcasts. It helps to build an audience, it encourages participation and it automatically builds confidence. Look at the list of prompts above for inspiration and I strongly encourage you to try it out.
It also brings surprises like the occasional affirmations and tears to the eyes of this broadcaster.
Yesterday I scoped about literary travel - and other fun stuff - and a writing prompt was born and... well, I think if you take the time to watch it you'll enjoy it.
