I hovered on the edge of creating a photo blog post this week or not.
I looked at the images I have collected and all I thought was “No, no, no…” there had been no photo adventures of note. There were no stories to tell, there were no shiny dots of color to curate.
I took a breath.
There are no stories here, I thought.
There were no shreds of evidence of life or loss or courage or hope or…
I looked again.
I saw differently.
I picked a soggy cigarette from the ground by this lock and created a composition that startled me. A sort of assemblage I snapped on a whim.
The beginning of a story or perhaps an interlude in between.
We were stopping something or we stumbled upon something else stopping something but I clearly didn't understand this San Francisco alley Sean, the GPS that lives in my Mazda, somehow knew to enter. We were asked to leave, told we couldn't pass that way.
I'm still not sure what this photo wants to say, but I can feel the something in it. Can you?
An almost broken lock, happened upon, investigated as it was left just the tiniest smidgeon open yet still close. A shred of evidence, a waft of fragrance, a something. Another something nothing.
This, a yet to be. Literally paint drying. Shreds of evidence of something waiting to be born, waiting to be midwived-into-being. Evidence of the gouache peeking through, asking to be opened. Unlike the "Stop" shouting above, this is more like "Breath!" shouting. "Open me! Unfold me! Take me beyond the evidence and into the...." what?

So I did it.
I created a photo blog post to add to my friend, Jen's link up.
I actually found myself enjoying it, even if it is woefully unconventional.
Or perhaps it is more joyfully unconventional, when I step back.
The shreds of evidence, the stories... unconventionally lovely.
