Another Sunday - and I approach the keyboard later than usual. It has been a weekend of activity, closing with my friend Alison's engagement party. I needed to get this brain dump out. I actually took an old morning pages notebook and planned to write from there, but instead, I literally shook my head onto the page. Enjoy? Not exactly the right words, but at least I got something here. That's a good thing.
There are some terribles I would rather save for fiction because they are too awful to put into “the real world” of creative non-fiction, memoir, life story… I just can’t do it. I just can’t speak these things.
I’m just not ready, don’t know if I’ll ever be.
There is a story I told at an event once and it was published in a compilation but I didn’t use my real name. I couldn’t have it out there in black and white for the world to know it was me. I could speak it to the audience, but I couldn’t “speak it” to readers who couldn’t see my face or hear my inflections or know the tug of ambivalence and pain peppered with disbelief.
So it happened again, it happened again. I admitted to my friend, Kimberly, "It is so hard to admit I can't do anything about this one."
This is a topic I haven’t broached before here, so any of you readers who have read for a long time would not recognize the story line.
I’ve been attempting to share less, withhold more, and be more conscious of the power of these written words.
I can, however, say there are some terribles I would rather save for fiction.
Perhaps it is time to start and finish that novel I’ve been putting off.

This was my 5 minute Stream of Consciousness Sunday post. It’s five minutes of your time and a brain dump. Want to try it? Here are the rules…
Set a timer and write for 5 minutes.

- Add your post below (be sure to use the permalink to your post, not your blog’s URL; and only NEW posts please).
