It is bold to do this nothing. Awake nothing. Not falling asleep or being (I hesitate to use that repugnant word) “bored".
It is bold, sometimes, to just sit here. On my couch, writing. Alice the cat on the floor at my side, birds’ songs coming into the window softly. I don’t need to rush to do anything. I can just be here and be here happily, contentedly, no pushing or shoulding or finger pointing or pontificating. Dare I say it? I'm not even contemplating.
I am able to sit here, on the sofa, reading two of Neruda’s love poems. Not because I am required to or I think they will do anything for or two me but just because the book is here and I am here.
I am able to sit here, on the sofa, feeling the slight ache in my knee and it doesn’t hurt enough to call it hurt and I can say ‘nothing wrong with having that ache and feeling it. I don’t need to pretend it away.”
I am able to sit here, on the sofa, and decide to stay here, on the sofa. No need to run off to another place to sit someplace that seems more appropriate for “loafing” like under a tree or beside the river. I can stay right here, feeling just right as I am.
It is a very bold, over the top, out there place to be.

This post is a part of the ongoing series for 31 Days challenge. I will be writing 31 blog stories about bold choices and using a bold voice...I am woefully behind, again. I'm still devoted, though, and still writing!
If you would like to read all my posts from the beginning of the challenge, simply visit here, at 31 Days of Bold Stories, Voices and Choces
The question is making sure to carve out the time and to document it all in a way you'll enjoy reading about bold choices in a most authentic, real-me voice.
I'm grateful you are reading.
