This Reverb Prompt comes from Besottment and required no difficult thought or emotional gymnastics. Simple simple simple. Except the beginning part, that is.
December 4 - Did you discover a favourite song or musical artist in 2012?
What is it? Where did you discover it? Does it hold any special meaning for you? If you do not listen to music, how about your favourite book or author? Or artist across all mediums?
Besottment
I wonder if anyone else feel’s like a loser for not having a favorite new song or musical artist. I love music, so this might surprise people. I do know I loved the music in the movie Pitch Perfect and would love to learn to sing in an acapella group. My daughter asked me, “Do they have acapella for old people?”
Pa!
I do have a favorite book this year. It is When Women
Were Birds by Terry Tempest
Williams. I recommend it to everyone I meet who
is looking to read a book. It is a blended book about women, mothering,
daughtering, the environment, grief, cancer and life.
Primarily it is about life.
The chapters are so short! I tell people, especially my busy friends, “Just read a chapter a day early in the day or late at night. Let the words massage your thoughts. Don’t force yourself to ‘learn some profound new wisdom’ simply open your heart to what Terry says throughout.
Some quotes:
“My mother’s voice is a lullaby in my calls. When I am still, my body feels her breathing.”
“In a voiced community, we all flourish.”
“To share our words with others, openly and honestly, is power.”
I could go on and on and on because there is wisdom in each tiny snippet.
I read the first chapter and I was in tears. Real, fall-down-my-cheek tears. To me this is a mark of an excellent book.
Have I convinced you to read it yet?
