I know, I know, it is countercultural. People love to complain about Mondays, oh the drudgery of it all.
I love Mondays. They give me the opportunity to rejuvenate myself after loud, overly crowded, too many people pulling on my octopus tentacles from every which way screaming, “Look at me! Talk to me! Take care of me! Join me! Do this, do that, just a moment of your time, of you, of… of… of… please?” so that by Monday, I am ready to sit at my desk or at my table or on a walking path and just spend some time with me and my creativity.
I can’t do that when there is a calendar chock full of activities and noise.
Mondays mean a clean slate, a white canvas, a new start.
Each Monday I choose my responses to what I face that week.
You may think because I am an artist/free spirit/free lancer, this is the only way I can live like this.
I challenge those of you who are scoffing about my gratitude for Mondays to try it on for size: what if instead of loathing Mondays you chose instead to look at it like a White Canvas and actively seek moments of quiet, creativity and love for yourself amidst all the other stuff everybody else thinks you should be doing?
Just breathe that in and I guarantee your muscles will release their hold even the tiniest bit from your bones. One more breath and let go.
“White Canvas Monday”
“Clean Slate Monday”
“I am in charge of my response to my day Monday”
“Yes, I love love love Mondays!”
