In my first ROW80 blog post for Round 2 I noted: "I am setting a lot of other stuff aside – just for April – to see where my words will lead me after April. Which writing will beg to get my attention. Which writing will continue to woo me, which writing will annoy the hell out of me."
With that in mind, here are my April Goal updates:
So, for now – in April, here are my goals:
Write a daily Cinquain poem. I have wrote Cinquain almost daily. I find I am more challenged when my children are underfoot constantly. We have been on Spring break, I have been traveling... and sometimes my Cinquain writing has been almost completely via tweet or in my notebook. Which is good... and keeps me and others engaged.
Write a daily poem that is NOT a Cinquain. Yes, for the most part I have been doing this. I did a marathon of three poems on Thursday for a performance. I had to write on the theme of butterflies so I was especially annoyed. I was shocked to hear the audience responding very favorably to poetry I thought was mediocre at best. I am still processing that dissonance between what I believed and expected and how my work was received. It is just that I am an experienced, energetic performer?
Complete the A-Z Challenge. I am even a post ahead at this moment. I have been creating images for my first two posts this week. You might say this project is making me even more addicted to discovering more about lesser known women in literary history. Today I was working on a photo collage of Ina Coolbrith and my ten-year-old son came up behind me. He saw my work and said, "Oh, no, not that name again!" I kid you not... this week ~ H.D., Ina Coolbrith and Kate Chopin among others....
Perform in at least Two Poetry events monthly. I have performed in two in April events now, thus completing this goal's minimum and April just started! I am sort of annoyed because I wasn't asked to participate in this month's National Poetry Month events primarily because one of the organizers has a bit of a one sided rivalry with me. There is a poetry slam this coming Friday which most of my poetry admirers in the local scene expect me to compete within but I am just not feeling it. >> shrug <<
Continue to work on Women’s Sphere art/poetry project -
Yes! The art I
am making for the A - Z challenge is the same stuff I am doing here. And... I am also working on some extra goodies as well. Yippee!
Exercise at least four times weekly for at least 45 minutes a session. I did this by traveling this week and doing a lot of hiking as I traveled. This week I intend to head back to the gym. My body is asking for yoga, my spirit is asking for Zumba. LOL.
I look forward to supporting you and being supported by you as this Round 2 continues.
Word-love, one and all!
