I must say, I have never looked forward to a Monday as much as I am looking forward to tomorrow. I won’t have a rehearsal. I won’t have a rehearsal! I WON’T have A (or TWO) rehearsals!! I will not have a performance (or two performances)!
Therefore, I will have plenty of time to sit and write. Go to the park and write. Drive someplace pretty, in nature, and write. Be alone without worrying about getting prepared to go to the theater and write.
I love theater. I am grateful I stepped back onto the stage. PLUS I am so much more conscious now of what I give up to do theater.
This is what sabbatical is for, right? I took my theater sabbatical to realize what is most significant and then to live accordingly. The two productions I am currently involved with were because friends wanted me to be involved. Originally the schedule was going to be different and not quite as crazed as having two tech weeks simultaneously. Now that I have done it ~ and survived ~ it is more fodder for my writing material.
Some photos of my two characters: In the first one I am playing Rossignol in Marat/Sade. It was taken by the incredible Michelle Guerrero. If you are remotely near Bakersfield/Tehachapi & need a photographer, check her out.
In the second one, I am the cigarette smoking Sylvie in The Odd Couple.Yes, I play wildly different characters, twice a day, within a couple hours of each other.
And so, with that, let me give you some nitty gritty of here’s where I have been writing wise this week. It isn’t as bad as I suspected it might be.
Away we go.
Write: Morning Pages Daily: This has gone temporarily by the wayside. Rehearsals til 1 am and a morning rising time of 6 am – very groggy – made me elect to set my morning pages aside. Tuesday, they will be readmitted to my ritual. I have missed them!
M-F: write 500 on my novel-in-progress. I have been sucking on this goal. I have written maybe one day this week. Argh. And I can pick it up.
“And Then Came” got some attention this week, too. Not as much as I would like AND I kept moving with it. Movement works!
(See also Under social media )- Post at least 5 blog posts weekly.
Yay, me! I kept this up! See? I actually DIDN’T suck so badly.
Read: Weekly ~ read One chapter each:
Reading? With a bound bunch of papers in my hands? I vaguely remember the concept.
Creativity as a Practice: Double rehearsals and performances.
Social Media
Weekly: I’ve been interacting this week, looking for an increase next week.
Biweekly: I did do SOCSunday this week. I did do Wishcasting.
Daily: I have visited blogs, commented on blogs, tweeted, retweeted, said “Howdy DO!”. I missed my #teamsprinty activities ~ and as the saying goes, “I will be back!”
Finally, REMEMBER I WRITE BECAUSE I LOVE IT and… Word-love has the power to change the world. One sentence at a time, we are having a positive impact on this beloved planet.
It all starts when one-by-one we move our pencils….(I use pencil for any writing tool… pencil is the generic catch word I prefer!)
Abundant Word-Love to all my ROW80 Friends and Friends-to-be!
