From Diana Pritchard in Cultivating 2012 ~ “Do you feel clarity when you look towards your future goals? Or are they clouded?”
Diana continues:
“I knew when I wrote those prompts what my answer to this one would be. My goals and aspirations are clouded; incredibly so. But I also knew I had — and have — every intention of changing that going forward. This is why I included these two as well:
“Make a 1 year plan for 2012. Break it down into monthly, weekly, daily baby steps.
“Do you have a 5 year plan? A 20 year plan? Does the 1 year plan you made fit in.”
= = = = =
I had an a-ha with a different #reverb11 prompt:
What will I try in 2012? I didn’t get offended by the “try” word like some people do: I see it as “playing” or “experimenting” or “walking toward” when “try” sounds like a cop out.
It isn’t a cop out unless when you try, you don’t take any action.
I am looking at what I will try as a practice in Passionate Detachment.
I look at Passionate Detachment like this: I go for my aim with full force and I also don’t concern myself with any particular outcome. So, my aim is to begin my publishing company this year. I will put my head down and run toward that aim, taking small steps along the way and experimenting from an “and” space rather than an “either/or” space. I am less likely to “give up and not try” if I am attached to “publishing bestselling poetry books” or “reignite cultural love for poetry via my publishing company.”
If that happens I will leap for joy AND it is not the sole reason for my endeavor. I want to share my poetry and writing with others and give opportunities to other writers who may not have had opportunities otherwise.
I love, love, love that idea.
As far as my one year, five year, fifty year plan ~ I prefer to let things simmer. I will work on these in creative ways over the five days. I want to have a ritual on New Year’s Eve to give this big project my passionate and detached energy.
This makes me excited in just the reading of my words here. I am beyond words excited to play with the planning now.
Thank you, Diana, for a fantabulous prompt. YOU ROCK!
