Jamie Ridler asks us in our Wednesday Wishcasting community: What do you wish to say NO to?
A flow of words gushed from my mind-heart. Here is what my words told me:
I wish to say no to unconsciousness.
I wish to say no to ridiculous bureaucracies that don’t do anything except provide a paycheck for people to do nothing of value to society. I wish to say no to prejudice and bigotry, which coincidentally seems to run rampant in just such bureaucracies. Not only in these bureaucracies, mind you, but they seem to specialize in it.
I wish to say no to self-serving, completely self absorbed individuals who forget the world includes them and doesn’t revolve around them.
I wish to say no to the use of descriptive words as epithets. Some examples: Retard or any form of "retarded". Moron. Gay. Dyke.A wide variety of ethnic labels. Cripple. Schizo. Did I mention Retard?
I wish to say no to cultural apathy.
On a personal note, I wish to say no to activities that pull me away from my primary missions in life. To play my part in transforming the planet… currently this includes being a Mom, Writing, teaching creativity & writing via my Writing Camps, Performance Poetry, Publishing, Creating and Showing Art, Serving as a Volunteer Educational Activist and Advocate and every once in a while, performing as an Actor and living and asking the questions with whomever I happen to encounter in my day-to-day life.
Other stuff, I need to say No to you. I clearly have a big task ahead and I need to rally my troops.
No to anything that doesn’t fit my missions in life. They are important. They deserve me.
