Of all the prompts for Gwen Bell's #Best09 Blog Challenge, the one from yesterday haunts me, and I am betting will continue to haunt me. It has been rumbling in my spirit for the better part of the past 48 hours… actually, for the better part of the year as one experience of 2009 wove its way into the next.
How to categorize it into a catch phrase? I made this magazine cover from Big Huge Labs after I meandered around and added the recording for you to listen to at the end of this blog.
Obviously, I need help with this one...
I mean, what would I have thought if last December 31,
2009 arrived at my doorstep and said, “Hello, My Name is 2009 and my Catch
Phrase is, ‘The Year the Puzzle Pieces finally clicked into place when the
dreams you tried to live out, failed miserably and instead, you were left… with
something even better.”
That isn’t very catchy.
Is that a breakthrough? Yeah, sure – so I went to the
thesaurus:
quantum leap, progress, and some words I could string together:
radical completion, consecutive
a-ha’s, dream breath
When I first opened this prompt in a word document two
days ago, I wrote “2009 was twenty years in the making.”
It is true, but… it was millions of years in the making
or if you look at it in the ACE sense, 2009 years in the making.
There is an Ellen Bass Poem that
says some of what I want to say, so I searched for it and what I found instead
was this poem.
Was 2009 my year of Radical
Significance?
I have a distinct distaste for
cutesy pie phrases so I don’t know.
I just don’t know.
2009 was the year I…I got up from
my desk to see Samuel off for his day at school and I remembered a recording I
made which said a lot of what this year has been.
Here, please listen and see what
clues you can find in it or in what you have known from me in this past year. Comment me, and let me know what you think the
recording tells you about my year… because… well, it says a lot in a relatively
short amount of time.
