I am blessed to have a house full of creative children and a community filled with creative souls.
I oftentimes ask myself, “How is it that these glorious children sprung from my womb?” Katherine is getting ready to head off to college next Fall, so I am especially conscious of the limited time I have to spend with her.
She and I sat at the kitchen table to try a new recipe and create hand art.
She is a musician: again, a vocalist way exceeding my abilities – and I had chosen music to use, somehow in hand art. My original vision was different than the outcome, but I love love love what we created together.
I feel like there is something to be said for the negative space we created with Kat’s hand over the music-weaving foundation we made. The paper weaving was inspired by fellow AEDM artist, Lisa from the blog “Lisa’s Art Journal” .
I also created a water-color ink blot style art journal page, inspired by Leah Pikan Kolidas, the creator of Art Every Day Month. The prompt “rain” came from Kim Owens, owner and creator of the Yahoogroup Blissfully Art Journaling… a group I adore.. .and weaving these two together – Leah’s inspiration and the prompt from (founder’s name) worked wonders. I am still admiring the journal page today, even the smudgy rain which was an accident yet fit the prompt perfectly.
We only have a week to go with Art Every Day Month. I think I will keep creating, every day, differently than I have up to now. This process, this community, is remarkable.
