I visited the school today, the school Sam will soon be attending. I went by myself, as the IEP team thought it would be best for me to go, learn the school a little bit, and then bring Sam on Visit #2.
Tomorrow I am going to take Sam to the school, as far as the office so I can fill out his paperwork.
Monday I am going to take Sam to the school at the time of day when the buses arrive, so he can get a feeling for what that will be like.
Tuesday we will go to class at the end of their day, when they are working on a craft project and Sam can join in.
After that, I am not sure what we will do.
I need to find out what bus he will ride - I discovered the contact at transportation for that, just need to make the call and get that all worked out. Once I find that out, I can make sure Sam meets his driver and knows his bus number and will be ready on the 7th when the bus pulls up to our house and off he will go to arrive later at the feet of Mrs. G, who will meet his bus at school.
I was so worried about that transition, getting off the bus and into the school chaos, but Mrs. G assured me, she greets the buses to prevent any difficulty.
I think I am ready, but the expression on my face tells me there is still more stuff to work through. I know I can do this. I KNOW I can do this. I know I CAN do this....
