Vestments
turn your head
you foul eyed letch
leave us be (at least in here) -
our separate, staunchly sacred
room labeled “girls” which means
only us… for our eyes and
lean legs and labias only
and…..
don’t expect prayers
in your direction
intercession in this
situation needs to be earned
it evaporated when your eyes
turned up instead of down
Process notes:
*** It seems I am carrying unprocessed anger right on the edges of my psyche.
My poetry is delivered from my mind with burned edges, like we used to do with paper in the mid 70’s. I was a new teen then: filled with angst and frustration as my body morphed without my permission. I would burn the edges of paper and blow them out, singes slightly visible, thinking it somehow made it look old. It only made new paper look burned but I convinced myself of its authenticity.
My anger, this time, the burned edges of my psyche - is authentic. I’m giving it space to roam which is decidedly different for me. Healthy. I am consciously allowing the anger to do its thing without being overly controlling -
Why don't you write along with us at Magpie Tales. Each week, intriguing visual images and a community of writers who never fail to delight and inspire.

Well done. I like the link to the sacred with all that white and propriety. Clever words.

Sometimes, we just need our own space, without having to worry about 'the others'.
