This is what her life had become
a towel, tossed aside, used for last night’s clean up
seen in the early morning light
institutional: hotel room, white
linens, white everything except for the
tan, sandstone, beachcomber shades of
light brown
This is what her life had become - -
half way almost pleasure minus connection
pushing away the overzealous
not quite right vaguely annoying
rehearsed Mona Lisa smile so as not to offend
this is what her life had become?
revisiting a room
perhaps the very same
five years ago and one month ago
the last time the final time the
other time the freight train of
electricity brought her to opt in
uncross her legs and begin
again to….
This is what
her life
had become
