OctPoWriMo Prompt today was about Best Friends.
This is a surprisingly touchy subject for me, so without any explanation beyond that.... I chose to write another Dead Woman Poem rather than address the matter directly.
The Dead Woman thinks, "I never did get that whole concept.
The Dead Woman peers through elevator walls at wedding parties and quinceneras and bar mitzvahs and wonder why such a fuss over relationships the likes of these when she was wooed and romanced only by words.
Sentience is overrated.
Checklist in hand the Dead Woman Drones, "Words never need a babysitter. Words are never late to meet me for coffee. Words never insult me, they never ask for more information than is appropriate, they don't criticise my lack of style or my cluttered apartment."
Looking up, scrunching her not-there eyebrows, "Words don't criticise for wearing the same outfit three days in a row."
The Dead Woman asserted to anyone and no one who would listen, "Words are the best friend a woman could ever know."

There is still time to write alongside the poets at OctPoWriMo.
