The Three Words which make up our prompt this week are:
Breach; noun: an act of breaking or failing to observe a law, agreement, or code of conduct; a gap in a wall, barrier, or defense, especially one made by an attacking army; verb: Make a gap in and break through.
Ember; noun: A small piece of burning or glowing coal or wood in a dying fire.
Tentative; adjective: Not certain or fixed; provisional.
It feels dangerous for her
To even raise a tentative hand
A breach of etiquette, a squashing
Of any fragment of hope
Any ember of optimism left
She sits, her hand safely
Tucked in her lap
And waits for someone else
To answer

Such a sad, heart-tugging poem -- it speaks of a woman's sense of desperation and powerlessness in a situation that feels overwhelming.
