Have you ever
been surprised by a poem?
This one shook
itself open onto my page. I didn’t ask for it, I didn’t particularly want it
but once it started rattling me with its relentless alliteration, I couldn’t
help myself.
This poem
nagged me more than my nine-year-old.
So, apologies
before you read…. ^giggles^
(And sorry for mangling your prompt, Keith of “Carry on Tuesday” )
"This week our prompt is the first line of thePerfect Albeit Perplexing
I had a
perfect dream
Primed as a
posy on the vine, plump
and wanting to
be picked
Pouting lips
whisper "Pop me off!"
Perfection
primed and plucked
I had a
perplexing dream of purple
pancakes,
dancing on my plate,
skirts rising
and pantaloons perking
my son's
prepubescent interest.
Pounce on the alarm. OFF!

Larry - sometimes poems become alive to me... well, most of the time, if they are any good they do... and some poems come alive after a few words are on the page. They say WRITE ME and BLOG ME and SPEAK ME ALOUD AT A PERFORMANCE to the point that I want to put my hands over my ears, like when my son repeats himself over and over again. Does that make sense?
