Rule #1 for
Writing Camp:
There are no
rules-
This is a
writing “workshop” where we won’t require you to write in any specific format
or turn in any assignments because this Camp is not like every other writing
workshop.
Yes, you will
be inspired to write.
Yes, you will
be inspired to improve.
Yes, you will
become more productive and more excited about your writing but it won’t be
because you are being forced into “doing it someone else’s way
At camp, we
understand if sometimes you can’t make it to a campfire.
At camp, we
understand that some of our activities and exercises won’t work the same way as
others – in fact, we expect that and hope for that because we are not about
being another cookie cutter program that promises you will write a book in 14
days or have a money making blog in 4 weeks.
Those writing
programs and classes have boatloads of rules, most of which are unreachable.
We don’t give
you rules to follow, we give you permission to play, deeply and write with joy.
Perhaps, for some, this feels like defiant joy… that joyfulness you have longed
to feel while you create but that was bullied out of you years ago.
Maybe it wasn’t
as dramatic as that sounds. Maybe, for you, you haven’t written with joy
because you just didn’t know you could write with joy.
