I have had some great surprises over the last 24 hours in relationship to Art Every Day Month.
A huge surprise came in an email note from my Middle School/High School friend, with whom I have been out of touch since 1982.
“I found you on the Art Every Day Month Blog – is that you, Julie?”
"Yes, It is I, Julie."
This sort of reconnection from nearly thirty years in the past because of Art Every Day Month is nothing short of miraculous to me. It goes back to my post from earlier this month about showing up. She and I have oodles in common, too – it is as I have always suspected. There is more to this Art Every Day experience than creating art.
I made some more watercolor hands, this time with quotes and writing as my inspiration. I included quotes from Plutarch (one of my favorites: “A mind is not a vessel to be filled, it is a fire to be ignited”, Mary Oliver and Teresa of Avila.
At rehearsal last night I struggled a bit with my lines, but by Sunday, I will be fine. I am supporting my director a lot, as well as the other actors. I kind of swooped in like I sometimes have the habit of doing.
I make a little nest for myself because it tends to be cold in the cavernous theater. This is yesterday’s self portrait. Love the pencil behind my ears and the blanket covering me. I poked my toe out so people would know I am under there.
I feel like there is something big coming through me. Just not sure what, yet. I am listening.

Julie, I just love the hands images. Yes, let's get together. We can share art journals but mine is about 5 pages! Just started one for the first time ever.
