I hovered in memory all day today: memories of childhood Thanksgivings and the longings associated with it. I have been working on a poem this week for ReadWritePoem.Org and wasn’t altogether pleased with the associations it was bringing up in me.
I would rather my memories and associations remained silent.
I zentangled in response, a lovely, colorful, “in the moment now!” proclamation of gratitude for words - - words never leave me, not even when I am making sad associations or feeling less than or ugly.
Words. Words. Words. I adore this bright zentangle and hope if any of you are feeling less than cheery this Thanksgiving (and perhaps a bit left out) this bright celebration of words in art will inspire you to remember what you are grateful for, even if it isn’t the conventional.
This morning I posted my Memory and Meals poem at ReadWritePoem. It is what it is. Not so fun to write, but I am pleased with how it turned out even if I don’t necessarily like it, if that makes any sense.
Off to cook, write, prepare, take photos and hopefully give my children some positive associations through Thanksgiving Dinner with our Friends-Like-Family.
