I wrote a gratitude list today. The first in eons.
I used to do this everyday, but somehow it got buried
amidst my other favorite practices, the ones that
keep my soul centered and my heart present and
my whole life as sane as I need it to be.
So today, I wrote one.
Hooray! Simple, very simple.
1. Feeling better
2. Making forward progress
3. My house is nice and cool in the morning
4. My new walking shoes
5. Audio Acrobat
6. My pencils and notebooks
8. Clean sheets
9. Carefully folded, put away laundry
10. Igor Stravinsky
And yes, it feels miraculous.
I am feeling better. Every day in every way.
Emma is in class this morning, actually - she
has hopefully been picked up by Linda by now.
Katherine is baby sitting... all day long.
Hank, the dog, is getting a haircut. He will
look handsome for our just-after-dawn walk
tomorrow which I am already excited about.
I wrote my morning pages today. I did laundry
today, some going now. I decluttered today.
Every day in every way.... I have some other
stuff to catch up on and I am chiseling away
at it. I am keeping my nose above the stuff
that might have caused me to stumble just
a couple days ago.
In my morning pages today I wrote, "The block
I have been sitting on is lukewarm, not cold, not
painful or is it?" In the long run, yes - painful.
In the short run. A-Ok. Or so it felt.
I was reminded of the story that I hear sometimes
in life coaching circles (and science) about the
difference between the frog who is in slowly-heating-
to-boiling water and the frog who leaps from the heat
when he is dunked suddenly into boiling water.
I have felt in the past couple of months like
the former frog - the water has been heating up
and heating up and heating up and I haven't been
able to feel it. It felt lukewarm, really it did.
I am also reminded of the scriptural passage which
suggests when something is luke warm, spit it out!
My business is based in soul-passion, not soul-kinda
warm, kinda cold, just tepid thank you very much.
So, for now - it feels good to reconnect with what
rekindles that fire-in-the-belly. It will take a
while to bring it back up to speed, and for now...
The Gratitude, the Walks, the Decluttering... and
lotsa smiles, hugs, and acknowledgments work
Yup. Feels miraculous. And I am grateful.
