Even now she shivers
Light spasms of memory
Evidence of what once was
Cautious of nothing when she was blonde
Throwing herself recklessly over every hurdle
Reached Nairobi, Zanzibar, Tegucigalpa –
It wasn’t an accident then
Conscious choices were made
Friday night many Februarys past
Yesterdays shivers foreshadow today’s silence
