a k a OctPoWriMo Prompt #18 - Time
Slightly lace filtered Sunlight drips into my eyes
Super Mario bell reaches through a door and a wall
to remind me, school starts late today
This is the time, usually, I arrive at the keyboard.
Today, a blog post, a poem, a flurry of comments
and conversation take their first breaths.
Oh, to have a Nanny to do the driving so I
may simply sit here and gather words into
between my hungry elbows and breasts
and arrange them on a plate for you to devour…
only to realize
without the time invested in driving, in caretaking
in watching this lovely ravaged world float
around me and within me
there would be fewer words to love.

I enjoyed the morning swirl of writing, comments, a love of words, somehow fantastic and connected at the same time, Super Mario Brothers through the wall.

There is so much that can be gleaned from the "busy" in our lives if we just take the time to look, isn't there? That's what this poem definitely made me remember--that even though it feels like our word craft is limited by all the other things we have to do, it is enhanced by our experiences as well. (Those are my deep thoughts at almost-midnight, anyway!)

Julie -
We don't have that morning drive, or school - but I so know that feeling of waking to hear the music of a game....and the pull toward two worlds, at once - the swirling wonder of family and external life, and the inner world of words...
You've caught its essence, here. <3
