It is easier to be invisible
to quietly walk past
barely stirring the air
with your footstep
Your bowed head may say
"I'm humble" or
"I'm praying" or
sometimes it says
"I'm afraid if
your eyes meet
mine, I'll show
too much"
I lift my head and look.
Talk with that man
I met at that wedding
Today his shirt is red.
I catch Mark's eyes, his
face surprised he
hadn't seen me. I listen
to him tell of his blistered
chest, his slanted
motivation
I offer word hope
medicine when I lift
my head and look

I, myself, quite enjoy being invisible. but there is something to be said for a friendly face, an open ear, and a word or two. lovely verse.

we offer so much when we notice someone else...we acknowledge their existance and that they are special...we are all special...

the opening line say so very much...and our need to be invisible can be haunting...as noticing or being noticed can be painful and self revealing indeed...bkm
