It has been a theme of philosophers, artists and wisely creative people for centuries.
Greek philosopher, Plutarch, said, "Painting is silent poetry, and poetry is painting that speaks." Leonardo da Vinci may have been experiencing Plutarch's influence when he wrote, “Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen."
Poetry has existed throughout human history. It was an artform long before there was a written language. Poetry was expressed in symbols and passed down as an oral tradition. It remains an important aspect of our cultural tradition, experiencing a resurgence today.
Please join artists Samantha Burton (Zelda Bean), Michelle Guerrerro, Lindsay Haney, LisaAnn Lobasso, Mike Niemann, Julia Stansbury and Julie Jordan Scott and perhaps the next Spoken Word Artist to perform will be... you!
