Sometimes we write poetry as a calming device, which is what I did when I wrote the bones of this poem ~ a list of what I was experiencing in the precise moment I was experiencing it, a list of what I was hearing, feeling, saying to myself.
I love how it ended in my writing, at the moment I was dreading, with... well, you will see when you read.
Thank you, BigTentPoetry.org for the prompt.
What words will I use
to describe this experience?
This meeting I never expected
to have when this day
began?
I comb through my thoughts,
ricocheting back and forth.
Am I ugly?
Will she hate me?
Will my presence
lunge her into
morry (more worry) ~
Will her presence

writing for me is an actual visual thing. I write the words, but only then can I see them, their definitions clearly, really see what I am thinking and feeling, and that promptly brings the ability to breathe. This sounds like a tense moment and by following the words, you found what you needed. May your New Year be warm and welcoming,
Elizabeth
