Yesterday I wrote about my chagrin in relationship to this week's prompt for- I am ReadWritePoem.Org’s weekly “Get Your Poem On” exercise. Sometimes the prompts annoy me or confound me but I do them, as a practice - see what I wrote by clicking here.
Last night I went to see Cameron before rehearsal for “As Is” and I told him about this prompt. He told me how he had, like me, been intrigued by pomegranates. He told me a story of his painting teacher many years ago, working with him to deepen his images.
I wasn’t sure what he meant, so we talked further on the topic of imagery and pomegranates. I was getting pretty close to heaven from the conversation and told him so.
He smiled.
When rehearsal was over, I met up with him again and he said, “I got a gift for you from the 99 Cent Store.”
Guess what? He brought me two pomegranates, to further my poetic experience.
That they did, indeed. First, photos.
Next, words.
The joy of having friends who are also artists.
