I adore this poem. I adore it.
There are times when poems take form unexpectedly.
This one came because I "had to" write a poem. Sometimes those "gotta do its" bring such joy when we allow them to do their thing rather than fight them.
Enough with the verbage - on with "The Cracking"
Crackers in the dark
Come close enough
to know just a little
Yet not close
enough to see
What I am trying
to give to them
What envelope
does this open?
We shout whispers
into the dark
wishing someone,
anyone, would come close
Enough to see
To hear
To connect
But only a precious
few ever get close
enough to come to know
What the cracker-soul longs
to give them in return
for just coming close
enough to experience
the cracking
